Powertrain choices encompass everything from a frugal 4.3-liter 195-horsepower V6 to a muscular 6.2-liter V8 with 403 hp. Most Chevy Silverados, however, will be fitted with either a 295-hp 4.8-liter V8 or a 315-hp 5.3-liter V8. A four-speed automatic transmission with a tow and haul mode is standard on Silverado pickups with the base V6 and 4.8-liter V8. Silverados with the 5.3-liter or 6.2-liter V8 have a six-speed automatic. All V8s run on E85 as well as gasoline. As expected, one may choose either rear- or four-wheel drive.
Calling cards of the Silverado include strong performance, a refined and quiet ride (even with the heavy-duty towing package) and a comfortable cabin that's admittedly looking a little old compared to newer competitors. A few other downsides we've noted in reviews include minor interior ergonomic issues, an unimpressive base V6 and the hesitant response of the four-speed automatic transmission while downshifting. GM's excellent six-speed automatic, however, is hard to fault with its smooth, on-point performance.
The steering wheel was reduced in diameter and the wheelbase was lengthed from 104 to 106.5. The 1973 Blazers had a full-time 4x4 system. Those with the Cheyenne trim had a chrome circle on the rear fender. The tailgate came two ways, with the open utility it was like the Fleetside Pickup's gate and when the optional hardtop was ordered, the gate had a manually-operated roll-up window, this eliminated the lift-gate that had been used in older tops. New energy absorbing steering column. The Blazer's single-unit body was joined to a heavy channel steel frame and had a completely removable fiberglass top.
The 166’s Sportronic is a normal torque converter automatic with a manual, sequential-shift override alongside. Then there’s Q-system – another conventional four-speed automatic, this time with a manual H-pattern gate offset to one side of the D. Last, but by no means least, Selespeed is effectively a regular five-speed manual, but without the clutch pedal. It not only offers self-shifting gears to ease the burden in suburban snarl-ups, but ices the cake for boy-racers with Formula One-style, thumb-operated gearshift buttons on the steering wheel.

You will cut off everything except the rectangular - box shaped trunk storage space. So just cut off everything except for that box — all the mudflap and all the side panels where the stock turn signals attach must be cut off. DO NOT throw away your stock turn signals. I'd suggest you keep them. You may need them later to pass your state inspection.
